Every specification is based on the National Curriculum but for each specification the content is split into different topics and may be approached in a variety of ways. If you are going to look for an on-line specification make sure you know the exam board and specification number. If in doubt check with your science teacher.
Most of the documents are in a file format called PDF. This is short for portable document format and when you save the files they will have a ".pdf" extension. These documents have the advantage that they can be read (and printed) on many different types of operating systems such as PC/Windows, Mac, etc., with the freely available Adobe Acrobat program.
Many of these files are large, between 500 and 1000 kB. If you are using a dial up modem then a file of 500kB size will take two or three minutes to download. It is best to save the file directly to disk rather than open it in a browser window. (The easiest way to do this is to right click a link and choose to "Save As..".) By saving the file to your disk you will still be able to open it when you are off-line.
Don't try and print an entire specification, many of the pages will be of little use to you as a student.
